Survival Quick Tips: Black Hat USA 2023
Black Hat USA 2023 is less than a week away and we have some tips and tricks to help you get ready and to make the most out of your visit! Over the years, many things change at Black Hat, but there are some things that will always stay the same.
Tip #1 – Leave those snazzy shoes at home
At Black Hat, there’s going to be a lot of walking! From the trek between your hotel and the venue, navigating the vast expanse of the Business Hall, zipping between Trainings or Briefings and navigating the many social events, your step count is going to be something to be proud of. We’d strongly recommend something comfortable for your feet.
Tip #2 – Remember, you’re in a desert!
For many, the climate in Las Vegas will be a long way from what you’re used to. This makes it more important than ever to stay hydrated and, along with the physicality mentioned above, you’re going to find it beneficial to consume more water than you normally would. This is especially important if you enjoyed a social event the night before!
Tip #3 – Make a plan
From Keynotes to Briefings, the endless possibilities in the Business Hall and a range of social events, you’ll be surprised at how fast you run short on time. If there’s a ‘must attend’ briefing or a vendor you really want to stop by and see, make a schedule! There’s nothing worse than finding yourself late in the afternoon on the last day, only to have a bunch of things that you’ve not found time to make happen.
Tip #4 – What to bring, what to leave at the hotel
If you’re curious on what you should be bringing with you, and what to leave behind in your hotel room, it’s good to know that you’ll be receiving a tote bag when you arrive at Black Hat for all your swag and vendor goodies.
You should drop by the Probely booth, we’ll have lots of neat swag items and giveaways for you to get your hands on!
Tip #5 - Moar powaaa!
If you’re anything like me, you’ll be snapping pics, messaging contacts and hitting social media constantly throughout the event, so your battery is going to take a hammering. I have a little MagSafe battery that sticks to the back of my phone and charges it wirelessly, but there’s a wide range of suitably small batteries to carry with you and not cause an inconvenience. Low Power Mode will also help you really stretch your battery out because there’s nothing worse than running out of juice!

The Business Hall
This is one of the best places to meet others for networking, socializing, or discussing the latest happenings in the industry. At the Probely booth, we will have a range of technical staff on hand to help with any queries you have!
I will also be on hand to give demos and answer your questions. Stop by for a selfie and stickers!
